Title: Re: Dream Interpretations
Post by: Maggie on September 09, 2018, 06:10:06 am
Not really an interpretations per say, more like a 'wtf is going on during Maggie's REM cycle?' type thing, but I've tried to post this sucker on Tumblr for ages now and it won't post for some reason.

Had a dream that you and I were walking down a street, very non descript type place but we were in the city somewhere, nice bright sunny day you know, and we were talking and turn to me. Here's how our conversation went.

You stop and turn to me, "We've named a baby after you, you know?"
Me, without skipping a beat, "Oh, have you now? That's so sweet. Where is it?"
You point clear across the road and go "That one." to which I fumble for a moment when I realize that said child isn't yours and is now being pushed by it's mother away from us in the stroller. I just nodded and went "Wonderful!" and we went about our conversation and our leisurely stroll as if that little interlude never even happened.

Now, I know that you and your fella will be a set of the most wonderful parents on Earth and I also know that you both have much better taste in names than what I was named. ( I should point out it was left up to my father and it took him ages to come home after I was born. He's never once given the reason as to why he liked my name he just did. My parents didn't even give me a middle name just an initial. ) Lord. Talk about weird dreams indeed.

Hey there! I’ve been doing a little digging on your Loki dream and I’ve found a few tidbits for you. 1.) Dream dictionaries do not feature sections about dreaming of Norse gods. 2. Loki, while being a central Trickster God is also a Deity of Change. Meaning if he’s reaching you in the realm of dreams change is coming. Now it doesn’t state if the change in your life is huge or small he’s just there to sort of guide you. It’s been said that even though he is a chaos god he still has a soft spot for humans, women and children in particular. He’s not trying to scare you I don’t think. Perhaps he came to you because he knew you were open and accepting?

I’ll keep digging my dear. I hope what little I did find was able to help.

P.S. I’ve also found a few posts on a few New Age sites that mention some old school followers of the Norse ways that have worked with him as a guide god have had things go a little pear shaped a first. Like they have prayed to him set out an offering and had a small set back before a positive event in their life.

P.P.S. I’ve additionally found that Saturday ( originally called Laurardag, which was formed from loki’s Name ) is connected to him. If you do decide to make an offering to him he’s not picky. He’s quite fond of the following;

- Alcohol ( specifically the cheap stuff ) he’s fond of bad whiskey, spiced liqueurs ( spiced rum, mulled wine, which is traditionally offered but not always available) and beer. But if you’re going with beer don’t get the really really cheap stuff. Go with something you yourself would drink.

- Food: He’s got. Sweet tooth. Literally any cake or biscuit will do. He’s a weakness for sickenly sweet candies as well and red foods so if you’re going the color route offered things. It’s said he also has a soft spot for spiced things as well. In addition to spiced cakes he enjoys spicy food in general so perhaps a hot pepper would be appreciated.

Objects: Cheap toys. Think Happy Meal types. Toy boats are enjoyed as he has a son with a love of the sea.
Found objects, if you happen to be out and about and come acrosss something that reminds you of him take it and offer it to him. He’s not picky at all, in fact he seems to appreciate the cheaper things all the more.

Incense & Smells: Think strong but not overpowering. Cinnamon, Cotton Candy, Mulled wine or a peaty smelling whisky.

Acts of Service to him: donate to charities that benefit children ( he has a soft spot for them ), the mentally illl, the homeless, the elderly. If you happen upon a beggar perhaps give some change. He is happiest with those that let go of their past hurts and put their best foot forward.

I think there is an option on this forum under the admin section for me to make some boards private, so for extra security purposes and privacy I think I will implement that one for more personal topics, so that way it feels more secure and safe! :-) please don't worry about the delay, I feel like I've been a lot more neglectful in that sense and did not see this response at all, so it's been a little while with me replying and I apologise!

I am honestly so gobsmacked that I don't even know where to start on this one. I don't think I have ever had a family member treat me so horribly, but I rarely see any of my family members that aren't like immediate relatives. We used to have get togethers or pop in to each others houses a time ago but it has been pretty much a ' ghost town ' where communication goes these days. I think the worst thing that ever happened between family members in this one was when one of my cousins, whom now has six children, gave her first to my aunt because neither parent nor child could stand one another and as the child got older, still chose to live with her grandmother instead of her mother and that just goes to show how unbelievable that cousin is. I never got along with her and when we were younger and me and my brother would stay around at my aunts house a lot, that cousin was something wicked and it never seemed to go away; she was horrible to both of us but I used to get irate when she would pick on my brother because he was all of five or six at the time ( and my brother and I actually got along then! aha  ), so I used to stick up for him and that was probably the only time in my life I ever opened my mouth toward something I disagreed with. I've never forgiven her for being such a cowbag and I don't think I ever will. I still can't believe she has so many kids and only two of them have the same father. She first got pregnant when she was 16 and didn't learn her lesson so kept having children and it kinda knocks me a little sick with the way she went about doing that, honestly. She says she loves children but to do it that way seems really off.

Sorry for going off on a bit of a tangent! I feel like what your cousin has done there is so, so much worse in several ways. I cannot believe she had such nerve as to call you out on anything when a) you're not even at fault in anything you do and b) she was perfectly capable of doing those things herself, but it looks to me as though lazyitis got the best of her at one point, or she is just severely incapable of doing anything for anyone but herself. I'm always so riled by situations where people won't do things for their family members whom are clearly struggling and for her to not look after her mother in those ways knocks me a little sick. I couldn't imagine not doing everything possible for my mother and she suffers with MS and lethargy and muscle weakness do prevent her from doing things most days, so I am always on the ball and doing them for her. With your aunt being unwell and not as able to look out for herself with certain tasks, your cousin shouldn't even have to be asked to do those things, they should come naturally and that is what's bothering me the most, I think. I'm so angry that she would even dare say those things to you, too. After all you have been doing and how you go out of your way just to help and then realise that your cousin is just looking for an ' easy way out ' of doing anything, is appalling and I would have been so done with anyone in my family whom treated anyone like that a long while ago. I think that is the sour cherry on top, you finding that she was home and that she had only been out shopping for clothes and not actually working. I would have been seething and I do not at all blame you for wiping your hands of her.

I'm so sorry it's taken me a bit to get back to you on this one. The interpretations you put above make perfect sense honestly. I didn't want to put it all out there on Tumblr for everyone to see because, well, it's Tumblr. I trust you infinitely more than I'd ever trust anyone else on there. Sorry if it's sort of a ramble but I'll do my best to try and get things down to explain what happened.

Okay, so changes have occurred, nothing earth shattering ( well, maybe for me ) but to a normal person probably not so much. I had a bit of a falling out with my second eldest cousin, she's just finished moving into my aunt's place because she just couldn't afford to make a go of things where she was living. She and her partner lived there together for about four years and after he passed away she just couldn't make ends meet. Now, you know me I'd walk across hot coals and broken glass for the people I love but I started noticing a pattern with her asking me for help. It mostly involved taking my aunt places and care of things that normally would have fallen on my cousin to do. Now I don't mind, really I don't. My aunt's got mobility issues, is on oxygen and has given up her license and honestly I love her so I really would do anything for her.  But at one point about a month ago I was out of the house nearly every single day, sometimes twice a day taking my aunt all over ( which is a bit of a drag because she flat out refuses to leave her dog at home and there's only so many times I can clean up dog vomit from the back of the car in a day.)  About two weeks ago my aunt called and asked me if I could please pick up a few odds and ends for her and my cousin. My aunt was under the impression that my cousin went to work  and wouldn't be back until late that evening. Not unusual because it normally takes her two hours to get home because of the commute.  So, the time came to drop off said groceries and I'm loaded down with shopping and I notice my cousin's car is parked in the driveway, I thought for a second that maybe she had someone pick her up or maybe she's gotten out early for the day and I'm trying to open the front door and not drop those stupid paper bags. I must have fumbled a bit because the next thing I know my cousin's in my face telling me to get a move on and how could I be so stupid as to not know how to open a door properly? I stood there for a millisecond with my mouth hanging open in shock. Who talks to someone else like that? Come to find out my cousin took a personal day and was out shopping for clothes when my aunt called. She can go and shop for herself but not for her own mother?

Honestly, this wasn't the first time she'd done that to me but I usually just wrote it off as her being in a 'mood'. You would have thought at this point a normal person would have just thrown the bags at her and told her sit and spin but me being the glutton for punishment that I am I went in and went about putting things away. I think I was more on autopilot because in those situations I sort of shut down. The ex best friend used to belittle me something terrible and call me every name in the book for 'Idiot' under the guise of 'only joking'. According to her I was a stick in the mud that was too sensitive. But that's a bit of a side note.

She then lights into me about not being able to do anything correctly. "I can see why you still don't have a job, you're so slow it's sickening. Two hours to get groceries? Couldn't you figure out the words on the labels? They'd never let an idiot like you around children anyhow."

Lisa-Marie, I saw red. One, did she forget that I actually hold a degree in education? Two, I did it for four freaking years! I was already upset but that was the icing on the damn cake. I'm usually slow to anger but at this point I was fuming. At this point my aunt comes out into the kitchen and calls Cousin Dearest out on her crap and that's when the water works start. At this point I've had it and I just hold a hand up and go "Will you just shut the **** up for once in your miserable existence? It's always how your life is so hard and everyone's so mean to you. Did it ever occur to you that you're just a frigid whiny little **** who doesn't think of anyone but herself? Oh, and by the way, expect a very detailed email concerning an itemized bill for your groceries and other expenses that I've covered for you. I expect payment in cash each week and fully intend on collecting it." I hugged my aunt and walked out. I've since emailed my cousin the bill and have yet to hear anything back. I'm still in contact with my aunt and she's just about had it with the cousin and come to find out my other cousins have all had falling outs with her as well because of the attitude. At first we thought that she was still grieving, which is totally understandable. Or perhaps it was stress from her job, also understandable. But this entire attitude has been a problem for a very very long time and I think people are just fed up with her. She's pushed everyone in her life away and as upset and hurt as I am with her I also pity her. I once asked her about two years ago if she had ever thought to go counseling because it might help her get a handle on things. I even offered to make her an appointment and take her if it came down to it but I was quickly and rudely rebuffed because according to her, and I quote, "Only total desperate people go to shrinks. I'm not like you." I guess I wasn't the only one to mention it to her because my aunt also mentioned that the cousin's boyfriend had tried to get her see someone for as long as they had been together but she would throw a fit. I've just washed my hands of her, I know that must make me sound like a complete heartless witch but I can only be belittled so many times. Ugh. I mean I know she's family but to treat someone like that it is inexcusable. If there is some sort of chemical imbalance or deeper problem going on I wish she would get help but jeesh. I think I'll just avoid her like the plague.

I have had some pretty restless dreams myself over the last two or three weeks, but they've been fairly scattered and not every night thankfully. Your dream sounds horrifying and I would have been pretty afraid to sleep the following night to be honest. I've been browsing around and stepped into a few of my favourite sources to figure out some meaning behind some of the symbolic things within your dream.

Backyard : To dream about your backyard represents your childhood memories or your subconscious. Alternatively, dreaming of your backyard refers to the secrets you are keeping. There are some aspects of your life which you want to keep hidden and out of the view of others.

Cooler : To see a cooler in your dream represents someone who is frigid or who has cold personality. As the cooler is feminine symbol representing the womb, the dream could mean a female in your life who is emotionally cold. Alternatively, the dream may be telling you that you need to cool off or that you need to "keep your cool". Consider what is inside the cooler.

Body Parts : You need to undertake a transformation and there may be some disturbing situations that you are going to encounter or possibly you are going to fail in some aspect of your life. From all my research this dream is a positive omen. After all, after death, only success can come. You must remember that, especially if the dream was unpleasant.

Wow, so all of that flipped around in different ways to find a solution and answer to some possible meaning behind your dream, I would personally go with the idea that there's someone in your life right now who prompted this sort of dream and the state of that situation is so extreme that the body parts you dreamt of is a way out of it ( by way of transformation, change, a new direction ). I'd probably want to figure out whom that person is that's causing such a large amount of grief and I know you've been struggling when it comes to dealing with certain family members as of late, so I'd look into that to find out who, as well.

Unless, of course, it's me! I feel like I've been a little more closed off lately from everyone, by my own doing, so have some guilt now that I've looked into this and am wondering if it's maybe a reflection of how you feel in relation to how little I've been around as of late. Now I'm seriously starting to think it might be me actually, aha. Purely from the cooler part of your dream, whether it connects to the body parts inside it or not, I feel like the ' frigid and cold personality ' could very easily be interpreted as how I may have been recently. From that, though, I'm not sure where the transformation part would fit in, but it definitely seems overall as though that person in your life that is clashing with your personality / mood in any way, has prompted the dream.

Looking into it a little more deeply, it could also represent the actual person themselves who has the cold personality. That they are broken and / or lost in ways and so, the body parts could be involved in that way somehow and not a direct message that you yourself are in need of transforming? That is also a possibility I would look into! that'd swipe a lot of worries off your shoulders, too, I think.

I've no idea what in the world is going on with myself in the resting world but this creeped me out.

The dream starts when I'm out in the backyard with the dogs, nothing new there. Off to the left of the house is this ancient looking cooler, the old metal box type and the dogs are going insane at it. I blink and I'm in front of it and I ( stupidly ) open it. Inside there are severed body parts but it looks like they're all from different people. I end up screaming my head off a woman comes out ( honestly haven't seen her in my life) and walks me back into the house and somehow whips out the phone and calls a number. I can barely make out what she's saying because I'm still screaming so she ends up putting the conversation on speaker phone and whomever she was talking to just goes 'She found another one?' I then woke up. I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry at this one.

I am so thankful you've heard that song! it isn't one of his most upbeat or cheerful, of course, but through that period of his life, it fit. I seem to connect to that song a lot more as of late with the way I have been feeling, so I suppose that, in addition with the words of that song, brought on such a horrible && difficult dream to begin with. I seem to go through these phases often, where I will be stuck on one celebrity for a few days or a few weeks, then another and so on, but always the same group of celebrities and rarely anyone knew I have taken a shine to. When I had that dream, it was all about George and I think that in itself drops my mood considerably because of the fact that he is no longer around.

Thank you so much for looking into this one for me. It's been bugging me since I had it and I still haven't really figured it out for myself, so this has helped in many ways. I like the idea that it being in a greenhouse suggests overcoming hardships, because with the struggle I've faced lately, within myself and of an emotional range, it's so nice to hear that perhaps that struggle is coming to an end very soon. It definitely makes a lot of sense and is helping me to put all the puzzle pieces together, so don't fret! x) I'll have to think a little while on what is really the source of how I feel lately and then go from there so I can try and work it all out.

I tried replying to this before and it didn't post, I do apologize about that. Good on you for starting new idea/posts to go with the new style!  I have indeed heard Grey Cloudy Lies and it struck a chord with me, it brought back a few memories I had over the years when times get tough and you just...don't see anything except the overcast grey that covers your world when depression takes it's hold. He captured the feeling very much and I wholeheartedly believe that it could have acted as a fuel to the perfect storm resulting in your dream. Our minds are like amazingly intricate lock boxes that you never quite know what's stored away until something opens the locks. I hope my reply makes sense...and I hope I'm able to help.

I did a little digging in the books I've got and perhaps George's voice was acting as a spiritual guide of sorts? Ravi was there giving you the psychical comfort/reassurance in the dream while George's voice acted as a way to pull you towards something. I've also read that if a dream is set within a greenhouse or anywhere there is dense vegetation ( a forest of thick lush greenery or fields of flowers ) it could be said that it's a manifestation of a success conquering of a hardship or a change in your life. As far as the carcasses, and I know those things are terrifying in a dream, I believe they could have been meant to represent hang ups in life or challenges that bogged you down they also can act as catalyst for your success, ultimately a cosmic Miracle Gro for your dreams and accomplishments. I hope this makes sense...it sounded so much more coherent in my head.

I have deleted a few boards from the Fun & Games section to clear up the place a little bit. I think it's time for fresh settings and topics and the like, to go hand in hand with the style make-over and the overall appearance of the forum now. I also find it is much cleaner to have a new topic every now and then when one has been filled to at least three or so pages. The forum often asks by default if you wish to post in a topic that hasn't been responded to in a while, so I'm adjusting a few things and keeping it clear of that happening too often.

I should have posted this a little earlier, shortly after I'd woken up, because it's not as fresh in my memory now as it was, but I will try and add as much detail as I possibly can. I have no real clue as to where it might have come from, though I have focused a fair bit on George as of late, but never to the extent of this dream. I was having a conversation with Edu (  Pattie's mun  ) just the other day about ' Grey Cloudy Lies ', however, so I'm wondering if it's all just a direct result of the misery that put me in as I got to thinking more about it, again. I remember the first time I actually heard that song and how, not long after, I found a snippet of an interview, suggesting George had contemplated suicide and that song was written more or less just after. I wonder if all those thoughts floating around in my head a second time have been getting to me too much, without my realising it.

From the few sequences I can remember, I was being held by Ravi Shankar .. for some reason, I was sitting across his lap as a child would their fathers knee when being comforted, and I was half crying——half drifting off to sleep, as we sat in this greenhouse, in a very large garden, listening to the sound of George Harrison's voice from somewhere. That was the part that bugged me most after I woke up, because I couldn't figure out in the dream where the voice was coming from. Via the weight of feeling in the dream, I can safely assume that he had passed on and that was the reason I was so upset, but the fact that I dreamt of Ravi comforting me, was a little unusual. I absolutely adore him, but it was just one of those ' ... eh? ' moments. I'm still trying to piece bits of it together, but that was the majority of what happened.

I should also note that within the greenhouse, there were many plants and flowers, but also dead carcasses of many little critters, and that disturbed me so much, that was the reason I woke up from it. I have no idea what it meant; perhaps I am still grieving, but it was so very strange.
